50 Plus and Beautiful

Age is a progression in time. Time can be our enemy or our friend depending on the mindset. I happily grasp the hand of time and without Facelift surgery, Botox, or fat transfer and fillers. This is not to say those who choose that route are wrong in doing so. We should be able to do what makes us satisfied with ourselves. However, achieving an ageless and youthful appearance without implementing drastic unnatural methods is possible.

Know Your Skin Type.

By the time we are 50 plus. We’ll begin noticing a few changes concerning our face and its condition. Maybe small smile lines around the eyes and mouth, uneven skin tone, and a sagging neck and jawline will appear.

These were the first signs I noticed. One night I went to bed, and my skin was firm, flexible, even, and smooth. When I woke in the morning, I looked in the mirror. Someone was staring back at me I did not recognize. Of course, this is an exaggeration. Yet, it seemed it was in this short period these physical changes took place.

Antioxidants:

Why antioxidants are important?

Oxidants, both internally and externally, are the major culprits affecting the health of our skin and cause aging. However, we can combat these free radicals that exist everywhere, by using antioxidants and preventing oxidation. Using the right cleansers, creams, oils, humectants, and serums and steaming your face, once a week; puts moisture, vitamins, and nutrients back into the skin is my base camp. *Side note. I use the pineapple and papaya peel as a mask while steaming for 10 minutes. The Bromelain enzyme acts as a light peel that removes the top layer of the epidermis called (keratinocytes).

Internal Banquet:

After waking, I start by drinking 8 ounces of alkaline water (recommended 9 -13 cups daily), before eating a cup of mixed fruit: Pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, papaya, apples, and cherries. I cut them into cubes and slices and place them in a large bowl, which will usually last approximately a week between three people. I add 2 scoops of collagen to coffee, almond milk, or orange juice in the morning and evening, and don’t forget your vitamins. A, B (B complex, 6, 12 and Bee Pollen), C, D, E, Cal Mag Zinc, and Potassium. (This is my vitamin cocktail), and drink plenty of water to dilute the supplements in my stomach. One last thing. I keep a 16-ounce water bottle on my nightstand.

Great skincare is not a secret. It is a journey of learning, self-care, and loving yourself. ~ JaNala Mamdu, Retired Licensed, and Board – Certified Esthetician.
