Peptides What They Are and How They Benefit Your Skin.
Peptides and Why it’s Good to Have Them in Your Skin Care Products, Infused With Nature’s Pure Essence.
*At ShaNuWater we strive to not use hyperbole in our product descriptions or over-deliver on what our ingredients will accomplish for your skin.
Therefore, we will not tell you peptides will get rid of the baggage beneath your eyes, and give you fuller lips, and peptides cannot lift your eyelids. For these results maybe a surgeon or injections of Botox can help. From my education, I will share what I learned about peptides in my esthetician class and further study, how they benefit our skin.
Let’s start with what are peptides and where they come from. For the sake of brevity in this article, a truncated definition will suffice.
“Peptides are amino acids that are the building blocks of certain proteins needed by the skin, like collagen and elastin. Using a serum or a moisturizer that contains peptides can lead to firmer, younger-looking skin and less prone to acne breakouts.”
Now, where do peptides come from? Collagen peptides are proteins found in bones, hair, nails, and ligaments. I shudder more to think these proteins are coming from humans.
When was the last time you saw a plant with the latest hairdo or fabulously long nails?
That leaves only one conclusion. No, in this instance, peptides, are not vegan, or plant-based. But rather, the protein is an animal: bovine or fish, and not pork. (My Muslim sisters, brothers, and Jewish friends), can rest easy. Our products are halal and kosher.
It is suggested that collagen can be genetically modified to create vegan collagen. Our jury is still out on this one.
Peptides are an excellent additive in moisturizing skin products. It’s been proven to diminish, large pores, decrease fine lines and wrinkles, tighten, firm, and smooth skin, treat acne scarring, and fade sunspots and other blemishes when used with other natural and organic ingredients.
However, we at ShaNuWater choose not to use animal protein collagen, or, GMO-produced collagen, because none sound very healthy over long use on your skin.
There are other ways to get protein collagen, vegan or halal. Vegetables and fruits are the best of excellence in all-around healthy remedies internally and externally. Eating vegetables high in fiber, amino acids, and nutrients from their vitamins feeds your skin.
The plant-based collagen also absorbs beneath the skin and goes to work in the hypodermis helping build connective tissue. An intricate mass of (fiber), is weaved in certain locations throughout the body and gives it flexibility, firmness, holding moisture, and locking in hydration.
“Plants are rich sources of anti-inflammatory properties. Low-starch foods, cruciferous vegetables, almonds, beans, olive oil, and avocados are foods that can help reduce inflammation;” thereby promoting organic collagen by eating foods rich in vitamins will give you the skin you’ve always wanted. In the days to come… Oh my goodness. We have a surprise for you.
